How to make Thai basil strawberry smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 400 g strawberries
  • 2 tbsp Thai basil leaves
  • 200 g granulated sugar
  • 100 ml Low Fat milk or oat milk
  • 6 to 12 ice cubes

Equipment

  • Blender or smoothie maker
  • Saucepan
  • Measuring cup
  • Sieve
  • Storage jar

Instructions

Stage 1 – make the Thai basil strawberry syrup
  • Add the strawberries into the blender.
  • Process until they have turned to liquid
  • Pour into the saucepan and add the Thai basil leaves and sugar
  • Bring to the boil and then simmer for 5 minutes
  • Pour through a sieve into the storage jars.
  • Let cool and keep chilled in the fridge

  • Pour 80 ml of the Thai basil strawberry syrup into the smoothie maker
  • Add 100 ml low fat milk or oat milk
  • Add 6 to 12 ice cubes
  • Blend until smooth
  • Pour into glass and enjoy
