Why use apple mint for cooking?

This mint has a fruity flavour than tastes a bit like apple (hence the name).

It is ideal for hot drinks (like tea) or adding to salads.

In addition it’s often used as a domestic herbal remedy, being valued especially for its antiseptic properties and its beneficial effect on the digestion.

For example the University of Iowa mentions many articles highlight the benefits of using this mint.

So not only does it taste great when used in apple mint recipes – it’s also good for you !!!

How to use apple mint in cooking

It is not sold fresh in many shops but is really easy to grow at home

All you do is get a ready made plant, cutting or a plug plant.

Quick guide:

  • Plant in individual pots
  • Optimal growing temperature is 15 to 20 ºC
  • And full sunlight or high levels of artificial light.
